Japke Janneke is a content creator and true cycling enthusiast from the Netherlands. We asked her to explore Leuven with local sports enthusiast Els Talloen. After her trip, Japke wrote the following on her Instagram: 'Honestly, I didn’t have an image of Leuven beforehand, but what a great city this is. Cozy, but also relaxed, atmospheric, historic, with lots of lovely places to eat and drink, and the surroundings are incredibly green too!'
Fabrizio Dekoning is a professional cyclist, but for his weekend in Leuven he swapped his racing bike for a city bike. He loved cycling quietly through the city for a change, instead of racing past it at high speed. Besides being a cycling fanatic, he loves photography. So he captured Leuven very beautifully on Instagram. ´A lovely city with a great atmosphere and super friendly people! Leuven has a lot to offer for sure and we enjoyed every second of it 😍´, were Fabrizio's words.
A Parisian who shares his adventures (Un parisien qui partage ses aventures) is how Brian describes himself - and we knew it and saw it! He shared his wonderful trip to Leuven on his channels. Three things about Leuven that stuck with him:
- Most locals speak 3 languages: French, Dutch and English.
- They love cycling!
- The city centre looks like the Middle Ages.
Leuven is the place to be for real-life cycling adventures and stories. The city is surrounded by beautiful nature. The new Brabantse Wouden national park is located on the outskirts of the city. With every pedal stroke, the city and the surrounding nature reveal their stories: get lost in the winding alleys between the university buildings, relax in the beautiful abbey parks and admire street art in the city centre’s beautiful streets. Let cycling enthusiasts and locals guide you as you discover Leuven's (unpaved) paths.
