Chill!

Leuven has reinvented itself in the area of the Vaartkom. Formerly drab industry, today sleek new-build projects, coffee bars, pavement cafes, bobbing boats and the trendy Sluispark. And at the top of the Vaartkom, OPEK is a meeting place for creativity and culture.

Hal 5 in Kessel-Lo looks like an old railway shed, and it is. But inside, it is all urban vibe, ideal for a drink or lunch among the locals. You will find a bakery, food court, a bar and often there is a fun second-hand, maker or plant market to discover.

Provinciedomein Kessel-Lo is pure relaxation. Sports, picnics, a bit of hanging out, playgrounds, paddle and row boats on the pond. Everything for a day of enjoyment...

Relaxed shopping

Head to Diestsestraat, Brusselsestraat and Bondgenotenlaan. Here you will find all the major shops. For something unique, go to Parijsstraat or Mechelsestraat. There are always treasures to be found in the small boutiques and vintage shops.

And if you’re lucky, you’ll be there when the market is on. Always good for something tasty or something you don’t actually need. On Fridays and Saturdays in the city centre, and each borough also has its own market day.
