Discover the cycling route

Don’t miss any of Leuven’s beer and brewery culture and set off on this 40 km route. You first cycle along the canal to the green surroundings of Leuven. Along the way, you will come across not only Leuven’s best-known brewery Stella Artois, but also microbrewery Adept with food bar De Smederij, and farm brewery Hof ten Dormaal, where the Janssens family brews with 100% home-grown ingredients.

After a lovely loop, you return to the city centre with its iconic beer cafés and beer shops. Put together your own peloton at neighbourhood brewery de Coureur or take a break at brasserie De Abdijmolen in Park Abbey, where the beers of abbey brewery Braxatorium Parcensis are on the menu.

Highlights on the route

1. Brewery Stella Artois

   The world’s largest beer company, AB InBev, and its famous Stella Artois beer still have their roots in their home city of Leuven. At weekends, you can join an interactive tour.

2. Brewery Adept - De Smederij

   Once the home of a blacksmith, now a microbrewery with food bar in the picturesque village of Winksele. Enjoy local dishes and beers indoors or outdoors.

3. Brewery Hof ten Dormaal

   Cycle past grain and hop fields to reach this farm brewery. The beers of the Janssens family are made with 100% home-grown ingredients.

4. Brwery de Coureur

   Hidden in a residential area, you will discover a unique microbrewery where Bart and Ine serve their beers exclusively to you. Experience a ‘Life is Brewtiful’ moment there.

5. Brewery Domus

   A fixture in the heart of Leuven. In this cosy city brewery, the beer is still brewed on site. Taste a house beer on the terrace or in the authentic restaurant.
