About the museum

The Museum of Zoology preserves KU Leuven’s zoological collection. The collection has been built up since the 19th century and includes thousands of animals, skeletons, shells and anatomical specimens.

As you walk through the museum, you will pass display cases filled with remarkable animals from every corner of the world. From tiny insects to large mammals, the museum showcases the richness and diversity of the animal kingdom.

During a guided tour, you will learn about the history of the museum, the different groups in the animal kingdom, and many fascinating facts, with evolution as the common thread. Please request a guided tour at least 1 month in advance.
