Carillon of Sint-Jan-de-Doperkerke

The 16 bells that once hung in the carillon of the University Library, and which have played a melody every half hour in the tower of Saint John the Baptist Church in the Groot Begijnhof since 1998, were joined in the summer of 2009 by 29 new bells. In addition to the automatic mechanism, the carillon with its 45 bells can now also be played manually. This ‘light’ carillon weighs 1,334 kg.
