Breweries around Leuven

Beer experiences are not exclusive to the city centre. You can also venture outside the city to sample Leuven’s beer culture. These three breweries are within cycling distance of the city centre and host weekly tours. The brewers explain their brewing process to you and you can also taste their products.

Brewery De Vlier | Holsbeek

Brewer Marc Andries loves a good experiment. ‘Because there’s more to beer than a pilsner or a classic tripel', he says. How about a X-Mas Spicy, with a hint of Biscoff spices? Or a smoky Smokin’ Elder? Or his range of deliciously light aperitif beers?

Brewery Hof ten Dormaal | Tildonk

André Janssens and his sons brew beer using hops and barley that they grow themselves, making them the first circular brewery in Belgium. They are more than happy to share the story behind their beer, from the field to your glass, in their wonderful tasting room. Expect ground-breaking innovations in an informal setting.

Brewery de Coureur | Kessel-Lo

De Coureur is the latest addition to Leuven’s brewery scene. Brewers Bart and Ine brew beers that are energetic, courageous and powerful, just like the cyclists leading a race. In addition to a number of beers available year-round, there is a different beer on tap every month.

The only way to enjoy a tasty glass of beer from De Coureur is to get it from the tap at the bar at the back of the brewery. On top of that, the brewery also serves a delicious home-made soft drink. You are more than welcome to eat your own sandwiches or have something tasty delivered as you enjoy one of the brewery’s thirst-quenching beers.

Book your visit to the breweries and, while you’re at it, why don’t you spend the night in the beer city of Leuven?
